Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell's Wedding: 5 Things to Know

Paul McCartney married for the third time in London on Sunday.

The Beatle, 69, said "I Do" to Nancy Shevell, 51, a New Yorker who sits on the Metropolitan Transit Authority's board.

Here are a few things you may not know about the couple’s wedding:

1. They were greeted by hundreds of fans and photographers ahead of their London ceremony, held at Old Marylebone Town Hall. There was a lot of speculation they would wed there after photographers snapped pictures of catering equipment being taken inside earlier.  About 30 guests attended, including Beatles' bandmate Ringo Starr and The Views' Barbara Walters, who reportedly set up the couple on their first date. She is Shevell's second cousin.

2. McCartney's daughter, Stella McCartney, designed the newlyweds' outfits for the day. McCartney opted for a simple dark suit and silver-pewter tie, while Shevell donned a classic long-sleeved, cocktail-length white dress with a flower tucked into her hair.

3. McCartney's daughter, Beatrice, (with his second wife, Heather Mills), served as flower girl for the ceremony.

4. McCartney and Shevell went public with their relationship in 2007, around the time his divorce from Mills ended. According to reports, McCartney and Mills' acrimonious split resulted with McCartney paying her $48.6 million. McCartney was wed to his first wife, Linda, for nearly 30 years, until she died of breast cancer in 1998.

5. Shevell's first marriage was to attorney Bruce Blakeman, who put in an unsuccessful bid for New York's Republican Senate seat in 2010. They have a 19-year-old son, Arlen. "I wish Nancy and Paul well, and that’s it,” Blakeman  told the New York Observer. “Nancy’s a great mother, and Paul treats my son very nicely.”

Nike Air McFly's Premiere Event: 5 Things Seen and Heard

Last night, Nike unveiled the Air McFly’s—officially known as the 2011 Nike MAG—an exact replica of the shoes Michael J. Fox wore in 1989’s Back to the Future II (minus the cool power lacing feature) with an event at Hollywood's Ricardo Montablan Theater and an appearance by Fox on The Late Show with David Letterman. 

Nike is producing just 1500 pairs of the mythical sneakers as part of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research’s Back For the Future fundraising campaign.  The sneakers will be auctioned on eBay at the rate of 150 pairs a day for the next ten days with all the money going to Fox’s foundation.  Last night the first pair—in a special package that included a replica plutonium case from the film, t-shirt, ceramic model, and a promise that Michael J. Fox would write a personal note on the case--fetched $37,500 from 22-year-old British rapper Tinie Tempah.  Halfway through the first day, bids on eBay ranged between $3,850 and $8,100 for the first batch of 150 sneakers, significantly more than the Fox Foundation’s initial estimate of about $2,000 a pair.

The unveiling was like a hip-hop Comic Con as geeky fanboys and hip-hop hipsters all drooled over the famous gray high tops and jockeyed to have their picture taken posing with one of the actual DeLorean cars from the movie.

Here’s five things seen and heard at last night’s event:

1. Host Joel McHale (Community) introduced himself with, "Hi, I'm Matthew Lillard.”  Yea, he probably uses that line all the time but it still killed.

2.  McHale recently said he is forbidden from making Kardashian jokes on The Soup because of complaints from the family, but that didn’t stop him from cracking one last night, which went about like this: "Nike is introducing Air Kardashians tonight.  They smell like hummus all the time.”  Half the audience laughed, half hissed.

3. The biggest ovation of the night didn’t go to Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown) or director Bob Zemeckis but to Nike design head Tinker Hatfield, who is also responsible for the Air Jordans.  When he walked out on stage someone in the crowd yelled, “Yo Tinker Hatfield—greatest shoe designer ever!” 

4. The Air McFly’s would be cool to own but in person they are ugly.  The combination of oversize hightops + flashy lights + washed gray color look like a bad 80s throwback, which, of course, is exactly what they are. 

5. Still no hoverboard announcement.

Hailey Clauson: 5 Things to Know About the Model

The 16-year-old model's parents have sued Urban Outfitters and photographer Jason Lee Parry for using images of Clauson from a photo shoot on t-shirts and other products.

On Thursday, the parents of teen model Hailey Clauson filed a $28 million lawsuit against Urban Outfitters and photographer Jason Lee Parry for using images of their daughter from a photo shoot last year on t-shirts and other products.

"She is posed in a blatantly salacious manner with her legs spread, without a bra, revealing portions of her breasts," the lawsuit said.
But the 16-year-old Clauson isn't a fresh face in the modeling business. She has modeled for companies like Gucci, Jill Stuart and Dsquared2.

Here are five things to know about the young model, caught in the middle of a rich lawsuit:

1. The California native was discovered at an open casting call in Los Angeles just a few years ago and immediately signed with a modeling agency. In an interview earlier this year with New York Magazine, Clauson called the moment "surreal" after revealing that she was "signed on the spot."

2. Clauson began modeling at 14 years old for ad campaigns and appearing in print catalogues for clothing companies like Forever 21, before breaking through and appearing in a feature in Japanese Vogue as its Model of the Month. Shortly thereafter, Clauson would walk in her first fashion shows in the fall of 2010.

3. The young model was caught in some controversy when at 15 years old, Clauson was included in the fashion shows for several major fashion houses, including Diane von Furstenberg, earlier this year. The age limit set for models to walk in fashion shows is 16.

4. So far, Clauson has appeared in several editions of Vogue, including Chinese, Russian, French and Italian. She also has been featured in W, Elle and Zara catalogues.

5. In an interview, Clauson said the most difficult thing about being a model was "waiting for the end product to finally be published," she said. "I'm always anxious and curious as to how the pictures will turn out." But Clauson is taking everything in stride, saying "everything" about being a model is her favorite thing about the job. "I wouldn't have it any other way," she said.

'Project Runway's' Tim Gunn: 5 Things to Know

The fashion mentor was at the center of Thursday’s premiere when he woke contestants up at 5 a.m. and challenged them to create an ensemble from their pajamas.

Project Runway returned Thursday for its ninth season. The 20 designers were cut down to 16 after a challenge in which they had to create an outfit from their bed sheet and the pajamas they were wearing when Tim Gunn woke them up at 5 a.m. and dragged them to the design studio.

Here are a few things you may not know about the fashion mentor:

1. Gunn was born in Chicago, but raised in Washington, D.C., where his father, George Gunnkowski, worked as an FBI agent under then director J. Edgar Hoover. He was a champion swimmer in high school, and went on to attend the Corcoran College of Art and Design, where he received a BFA in sculpture. In 2009, the school  awarded him an honorary doctorate.

2. He first began working at NYC's Parsons School of Design in 1982. From 1989 to 2000, he worked as an associated dean, and then in 2000, he was named chair. He left Parsons in 2007 to become chief creative officer  of Liz Claiborne.

3. He joined Project Runway in its first season in 2004, quickly becoming known for his catchphrase "Make it work." His spinoff reality show, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, premiered on Bravo in 2007. He's appeared on Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother and Drop Dead Diva.

4. He's also an author, publishing his first book, A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style, in 2007. In 2010, he released Gunn's Golden Rules: Life's Little Lessons for Making It Work.

5. He's active in causes he believes in. Gunn narrated an anti-fur PSA for PETA about rabbit fur farming in China in 2008. He also contributed to the "It Gets Better Project," which supports gay youths struggling with depression, by admitting that he attempted suicide when he was 17 years old by swallowing more than 100 pills.

Lucian Freud: 5 Things to Know

The noted nude portrait artist – grandson to Sigmund Freud, brother to British TV personality Clement Freud - died in London Wednesday at 88.

Noted nude portrait artist Lucian Freud died in London Wednesday at 88 from an undisclosed illness, confirms his art dealer, William Acquavella of Acquavella Galleries.

Here are a few things you may not know about him.

1. His father, Ernst, was Sigmund Freud's youngest son. His brother is British television personality Clement Freud.

2. He was heavily influenced by artist Francis Bacon, who was the subject of one of his most famous works, an oil painted on copper in 1952. They both showed art at the Venice Biennale in 1954.

3. His work was not popular in the United States until the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington exhibited his art in 1987. He was soon after proclaimed the "greatest living realist painter." The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City displayed a retrospective of his work in 1993.

4. He was born in Berlin in Dec. 8, 1922, but his family fled to London after Hitler came into power in 1933. He didn't excel in school, and considered becoming a horse jockey, the New York Times reports. In 1938, he was expelled from the Bryanston school after dropping his pants on the street on a dare. But he was accepted into the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London because of his notable sculpture of a horse. He later enrolled in the East Anglian School of Drawing -- and there's a rumor that he accidentally started a fire with a discarded cigarette that burned the school to the ground. It has been ruled unlikely.

5. He joined the Merchant Navy in 1941 with hopes of moving to New York City. The convoy ship on which he served only made it to Halifax, Nova Scotia, however. When it returned to Liverpool, he came down with tonsillitis and earned a medical discharge from the military.

Cy Twombly: 5 Things to Know

American painter Cy Twombly died Tuesday in Rome at 83. While the Gagosian Gallery, which represented him, did not cite the cause of death, it was widely reported online that he suffered from cancer. Here are a few things you may not know about the painter.

1. His large-scale paintings and drawings split critics early on, who questioned his use of graffiti and calligraphy. But he received commercial acclaim. Less than two months ago, his "Untitled" painting sold for $15.2 million at Christie's in New York.

2. He moved to Italy in the 1957, which the New York Times called "the most symbolic of his idiosyncrasies" in reference to the trend of artists moving from Europe to the U.S. at the time. In 1959, he wed Tatia Franchetti, the sister of his patron Giorgio Franchetti.

3, He is the only contemporary artist invited to paint the ceiling of the Salle des Bronzes in the Louvre, an honor he received last year. HIs work was an abstract composition with the names of classical Greek sculptors of the fourth century.

4. He was born in Lexington, Va. in 1928. His father, who was also nicknamed Cy after the baseball player Cy Young, pitched for the Chicago White Sox. After graduating from Lexington High School in 1946, he attended the Darlington School in Rome, Georgia, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., at the Art Students League in New York and Black Mountain College in Asheville, NC.

5. He worked as a cryptologist, deciphering hidden messages, in the U.S, military in the early 1950s.
