Coca-Cola Celebrates 125th Birthday in Parisian Style

The soft drinks company partnered with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac for a special collection in honor of the brand’s anniversary.

PARIS - The Coca-Cola Company celebrated its 125th birthday in style with Parisian fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac at a swank soirée in Paris on Thursday night.

The soft drinks company has partnered with Castelbajac for a special JC/DC collection in honor of the brand’s anniversary.

As Paris Fashion Week kicked off in the capital, stars including DIta Von Teese and designer Ora Ito headed to hotspot le Trianon to dance to musical performances from Trentmoller, Tomorrow’s World, Busy P and Breakbot.

The JC/DC Coca-Cola collection features a fashion line ranging from a centerpiece silver-sequined Coca-Cola dress to a t-shirt with a young Elvis Presley photographed by Alfred Wertheimer. “I fell in love with Coca-Cola at first sight! I was 16, and it was the only bottle who had the waist of a girl," Jean-Charles de Castelbajac said of the collaboration with the famous soft drink brand.

Brad Pitt's Custom Shades In 'Moneyball'

Brad Pitt takes on the role of Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane in Sony's Moneyball (in theaters now). Part of getting into character included carefully selecting custom shades from the Beverly Hills eyewear boutique Destination Sama (9530 Brighton Way, 310-271-1734). The company, which is a favorite among actors and industry execs, also designed iconic styles for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Miami Vice and Iron Man 2. In the movie, Pitt wears two styles of 'Louis' aviators in platinum and brown. The frames retail for $348 (an additional $75 to $250 depending on the lens style chosen).

THR talked to Ross Vance, head of production at Sama, about teaming up with Pitt:

The Hollywood Reporter: How did you get involved with the film?

Ross Vance: It was a direct request from Brad [Pitt]. I had designed a series of aviators for him a year earlier that he really liked. When he started prepping for Moneyball, he felt that the styling and direction of our aviators were reflective of the time and would be perfect for the character of Billy Beane. He had the studio's wardrobe and prop styling team contact me about designing frames for him to wear in the film.

THR: Were you given specific design directions?

RV: The look needed to be authentic — I was told nothing too vintage or too oversized.

THR: Did Brad weigh in on the different styles?

RV: Completely. He has such an appreciation for great design aesthetic and it translates to his personal style. He had strong opinions about the product during the whole process. The aviators were definitely his idea.

THR: How many pairs did you make?

RV: We originally created 25 different versions for consideration. We ended up making nine pairs total for the film. He wears the 'Louis' aviators in a few different shades.

THR: Did Brad have a favorite pair?

RV: He loved the platinum frames with custom vintage green lenses. He liked the contrast of platinum against the bright green.

THR: Can filmgoers buy the styles seen in the film?

RV: Yes, of course. There are some changes because they were all custom made for Brad's character — we did special colored lenses with non-reflective coatings for shooting. However, the frame shape that you see on Brad is available. (http://www.samaeyewear.net/)

Anne Hathaway was recently snapped on the Los Angeles set of director Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises pulling a Pégase rolling carry-on bag by Louis Vuitton. She was dressed for the part of Catwoman's stylish alter ego, Selina Kyle, in an all-black ladylike ensemble (a pencil-skirt suit, round-toe pumps, gloves and a hat) with the wheelie bag.

The luxe piece boasts the French fashion house's signature Epi leather ($4,050) or Taiga leather ($3,500) and is available online (louisvuitton.com).

Gisele Bundchen Lingerie Campaign Criticized by Brazilian Officials (Video)

Government reps are calling for the TV ads to be pulled.

Gisele Bundchen’s very successful modeling career has usually made her home country proud, but a new lingerie campaign has Brazilian government officials turning on her.

Bundchen’s new lingerie campaign for the Brazilian label, Hope, has her using her formidable assets and feminine wiles to get her get out of trouble with her husband for some mischief, such as maxing out his credit card and crashing his car, according to The Guardian.

The commercial’s voiceover says, “You’re a Brazilian woman – use your charm.”

That has officials from Brazil’s women’s secretariat requesting that the promos be pulled from television. In a statement, the officials say the advertisement contains “discriminatory content against women” in encouraging them to use their “charm” to “lessen possible reactions from their partners.” It states the commercial violates two articles of the Brazilian constitution.

In response, the lingerie company’s director, Sandra Chayo, says, "Gisele can testify that all of the situations shown in the campaign are jokes about daily life.”

“In no way should they be taken as being depreciative of the feminine figure. It would be absurd for us, who make a living off the preferences of women, to do anything to devalue our main consumer."
