Hollywood partied geek style at Comic-Con. On July 21, Robert Rodriguez mingled among hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of Frank Frazetta paintings at his Hard Rock Hotel party, while Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz and Rachel Nichols confabbed at Summit's rooftop soiree where Games of Thrones' Peter Dinklage was seen sitting on women's laps. Later, Jon Favreau was the surprise DJ at an anti-rooftop party thrown by JoBlo.com, Latino Review and producer Daniel Alter in the Sway Lounge. ICM threw a chill afternoon social behind the Convention Center on July 22, and UTA partied into the night at Bar Basic. Meanwhile, TV stars and comic book A-listers hung out on opposite sides of Hard Rock's rooftop bar Float at the Warner Bros. TV/DC Entertainment bash, which featured "distracting and fascinating painted naked ladies," as Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec noted. July 23's Cowboys & Aliens premiere was a blowout of epic proportions, though the stars and Universal execs ditched the afterparty for their own private celebration at the Andaz hotel.  -- Borys Kit Subscribe now to read the full article Subscription Benefits Read The Hollywood Reporter on any mobile device Email complete articles to clients or colleagues Interactive Radio: listen to the topics or headlines that interest you RSS Feed: read in a timely manner with easy to find content Read Offline: locate issues and articles easily at any time, no internet connection needed Subscribe Now Already a Subscriber? Prince William and Kate Middleton now share something with Eddie Murphy: 48 hours made them stars in Hollywood. During their whirlwind visit, the newlyweds found time for a polo match, a brunch for a wildlife charity and a visit to the Inner-City Arts children's center on skid row. The splashy showbiz event of their visit was the inaugural black-tie "BAFTA Brits to Watch" dinner at downtown L.A.'s Belasco Theater. The night turned Hollywood's social order topsy-turvy. Usually, it's stars the magnitude of Barbra Streisand, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Lopez (not to mention execs such as Les Moonves and Harvey Weinstein) who are being awaited, not doing the waiting. But 280 guests, who arrived an hour early, stood by patiently until the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge -- she in a nipped-waist pale lilac Alexander McQueen gown -- had strolled the red carpet. There was some grousing that there were no plus-ones ("That's the most un-Hollywood of experiences at a dinner on a Saturday night," said an attending studio exec) and that midnight was a bit late for the evening promoting emerging British talent to run (the duke and duchess excused themselves at 11 p.m. as dessert was served). But there was agreement that the royals starred in a rare Hollywood event: a black-tie bash without an awards presentation.  -- Bill Higgins Subscribe now to read the full article Subscription Benefits Read The Hollywood Reporter on any mobile device Email complete articles to clients or colleagues Interactive Radio: listen to the topics or headlines that interest you RSS Feed: read in a timely manner with easy to find content Read Offline: locate issues and articles easily at any time, no internet connection needed Subscribe Now Already a Subscriber?
